Hit The Road - day 1
Well day one sarts in Dallas, we navigate the freeways which are masive, and building more every where. After a good nights sleep we head out to find Sports Ryder's to pick up the two rentals. Hugh got his Beemer 1200RT and I got a Harley Road King in white! Looks a bit like a police bike, how unusual is that?
Charles gives us a good run down on the financials and the bikes. We head north aiming for Kansas City two states away to pick up Gerald's Victory. Ken is piloting the Dodge Caravan, doing great U turns again!
The place names just ooz memory of old songs, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Wichita, and to night we are about 20 miles from Muskogee, not sure which song that fits but I am sure it is one.(Oky from Muskuskogee). The cars and trucks are fast. Seventy MPH speed limits, and most cars doing 75, and trucks almost the same. We do 70MPH and get passed by 90%. All going well and then the bloody Harley stops!!!! 1 Should have rented a beemer! See pic. It breaks down 4 hours into our five week ride! More detail next blog.
Well its Anzac day in Aus and pick up bike day in Dallas. After navigating the freeways, and I do mean navigate we found Sports Ryder Rentals. Charles was very thorough with his prep and instructions. Hugh got his light blue BMW 1200RT and Paul a white Harley Road King. Thats right white! Looks like I stole a Police Harley. Off we went bypassing the city centre heading for a half way point to Kansas City.
All going well, radios working, highways even on lesser roads. Never less than two lanes each way. Doing 70 MPH and most cars and some trucks overtaking us. One truck doing 75MPH!.
Some of the town and place names brought back memories of old songs. Names like Muskogee,Oklahoma City, Witchita Falls, Talahachee. Even a road to Coalgate.
Then it all went pear shaped and the Harley was parked on the side of the road broken down. I will load a picture. Had to find a tow truck, then a hotel for the night. Should have rented a Beemer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we go again. 2013 bring it on
Well we are about to ride in the USA again. We had fun in 2010 and enjoyed the ride. Four of us are returning. Ken in the SUV, Gerald the organiser, Hugh and Paul riding again.
We arrive in Dallas April 24. All looking forward to it. Where are we riding? Many ask. We decide each day. It worked last trip, so why change it by over planning?
More when we get started.
